Newmarket’s Dubai Future Champions Day could revert to a Saturday date.

News of the potential move for the meeting, which was run on Friday last year, comes following an announcement on Monday by the European Pattern Committee into a review of the autumn two-year old programme.

Should negotiations between Newmarket Racecourses and the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) go down that route it would see the card move forward to take place on Saturday, October 10, bringing an end to Champions Weekend after just a year.

As well as the potential move of Dubai Future Champions Day, it was also detailed in Monday’s announcement that the Group One Middle Park Stakes would be moved to an earlier slot on the calendar on September 26.

In further changes the Zetland Stakes is to have its Listed status reinstated along with being placed on the potentially new date for Dubai Future Champions Day on October 10.
