Stetchworth’s Ellesmere Centre found themselves on the end of a whitewash after proving to be no match for Ely’s Mohan trio in Division One of the Ely and District Table Tennis League.
Although several close legs were played throughout the match, all went the way of the visitors with Liam, Kieran and Patrick Mohan roaring through the card.
Ely II’s Ashley Rowe was the only member of his team to chart any success during his team’s 8-2 loss against Fulbourn II.
Although losing out to Peter Xie, who cruised to a maximum, Howe picked up wins after beating both Jannek Hauser and Nigel Bates.
Fulbourn matched the efforts of their second team with an 8-2 win over Soham.
There was great relief as Soham Comrades won their first match of the season, albeit against next-to-bottom NCI.
There was not a lot in it with the teams level at 3-3, but with both Syd Dunster and Mark Lillyman saw off Howard Morley and Nathan Stewart beat Kelvin Mitchell.
The doubles went the way of NCI, but the match went to Comrades 6-4.
Neil Abram found himself on the losing side, despite taking a brace of wins for Ely IV with his team going down to Fulbourn IV 6-4, while Soham Comrades II – thanks in large to maximums from Kin Choi Chan and Rob Wallis – breezed past Soham Comrades IV 9-1.
Soham Comrades III’s inclusion of Adam Speed failed to prevent them slipping up 7-3 to Fulbourn III.
Speed gained two of the Comrades’ points with wins over Dave Roitman and Phil Hague, with Alan Chambers chipping in with the other point thanks to victory over Roitman.
In Division Three, a young Stetchworth Ellesmere Centre III saw off the attentions of Fulbourn VI 7-3.
