Prolific match winner Geoff Arnold added another victory to his name on Sunday when taking Newmarket Angling Club’s open match at Jeagor Farm Fishery.
Arnold, fishing on peg 11, headed the weights at the Holywell Row venue with 32lb.
The outcome of the match could have taken a different look however had eventual runner-up John Millard, who finished with 31lb, sitting next door to Arnold on peg 10, not lost a carp around the three-pound mark right on the final whistle.
Third went the way of Dave Rees, on peg 13, with 28lb 8oz.
n John Wing toppled Fred Challice by an ounce in Isleham Angling Club’s match on Sunday on the village’s stretch of the River Lark.
Fishing with pinkies Wing netted a 9lb 9oz bag predominately made up of roach, with Challice back in second with 9lb 8oz.
*Despite the blustery conditions catches at Blackdyke Trout Fly Fishery have remained steady.
Gold head lures with a white tail have caught most fish on floating lines.
Top rod over the past seven days was Bart farmer who caught and released 15 rainbow trout on Sunday.
Anglers are reminded that the lake is shut Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.
