Hundreds of cyclists braved the weather to take part in the third annual Newmarket Hilly Cycle Sportive at the weekend.

Nearly 300 riders chose to cycle one of three distances (25 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles), with cyclists travelling from as far afield as York, Leicester and Exeter to enter.

This year’s event raised around £7,000 for local Newmarket charities and community groups, with Newmarket’s Nigel Street one of only two cyclists to complete the 100-mile route in under five hours.

Street finished in four hours, 58 minutes and 22 seconds, with Norwich’s Zac Ireson beating him with a time of 4.44.45.
