HIGH HOPES: Tom Keddy who feels Archie Rice can obliged at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

NEWMARKET trainer Tom Keddy feels the in-form Archie Rice can continue his love- affair with Wolverhampton this weekend.

On Saturday, the six year old will bid to make it five wins from as many starts at Dunstall Park when lining up in a Class Four contest over one mile one furlong.

Last time out, the son of Arch recorded his fourth successive victory at the West Midlands track when scoring over the same distance.

“He was originally entered at Lingfield but that race looked pretty hot so we won’t be going there,” said the Hamilton Road trainer. “He didn’t run well at Lingfield either the time before last and just seemed to have an off day so we thought why take them there over taking him to a track he likes.

“He has been fine at home as he is a very easy horse to train. The trip is ideal for him and Ryan Clark’s three pound claim will help take weight off his back. He goes there with a great shout.”

Keddy, who currently has 10 horses in his string at Southgate Stables, could also be on the mark earlier on the card thanks to smart sprinter Piscean.

A winner of eight races, the seven year old will look to end his losing streak stretching back to November 2010 when appearing in a Class Three contest over seven furlongs.

“The horse is so well at home that he needs to run somewhere,” said Keddy.

“With there being no opportunities over six furlongs we have been forced to step him up in trip.

“On his last run at Lingfield he did well to be beaten only two and a half lengths in finishing fifth after being forced wide throughout.

“Prior to that he had run well in finishing second at Wolverhampton. We are hoping he can produce a similar run to that.”
