Promising hurdler to face toughest test to date

Exciting juvenile hurdler Vasco D’ Ycy will bid to give Sarah Humphrey the perfect end to the year by becoming her first ever Grade One winner should today’s fixture at Chepstow beat the weather, writes
Graham Clark.

The Paul Chapman-owned gelding will face his biggest task to date since arriving from France when lining up in the Grade One Coral.co.uk Future Champions Finale Juvenile.

Should Chepstow be abandoned, Vasco D’Vcy will run at Kempton in the William Hill-iPad App Now Available Juvenile Hurdle.

“We have been very happy with his work in the run up to Chepstow, and he won’t mind the heavy ground. The only thing that would stop him running is if the meeting is abandoned,” said Humphrey.

Having finished second at Ludlow on his debut for the West Wratting trainer the three year-old confirmed he was a horse with plenty of promise when landing a Class Three juvenile hurdle at Newbury next time out.

“I thought he would improve for the run at Ludlow but we were thrilled that he won at Newbury. He travelled very well throughout the race and jumped very quick and economically,” said Humphrey.

Tomorrow could also see the Cambridgeshire-based trainer unleash another recruit from France at Leicester in the shape of chaser Uno D’Estruval, who was purchased by bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley.

“Although Uno D’Estruval has been running over less in France I think two and half miles is his trip.

“He looks very well handicapped for his first run here,” said Humphrey.
