Fordham 178-9

Fordham were well-beaten by league leaders Eaton Socon after they completed the run chase for the loss of only one wicket.

Former Essex batsman Jonny Carpenter led the hosts to victory with an unbeaten knock of 87, helping them close on 179-1.

Fordham batted first, with Luke Duplooy (46) and Chris Summerskill (28) compiling a fine opening stand of 79, before Shoab Khan (27) and Ian Baldwin (20) added more runs.

However a five wicket haul from Hay (5-38) saw the visitors finish on 178-9, which the leaders surpassed with ease.

n In Mr Cricket CCA League Division One North, Fordham II continued their good form with a 115 run win over Witcham.

George Darling (56), Graham Arnold (49 not out), Gavin Harding (43) and Craig Theobald (33 no) were Fordham’s main run scorers as they finished with a pleasing total of 223-6.

Sam Buck (6-34) and Mike Spreadborough (4-26) then ripped through the Witcham batting order to bowl them all out for 108.
