Weather causes fixture havoc

Wet weather saw nearly all the region’s football fixtures wiped out over the weekend.

Waterlogged pitches saw the Thurlow Nunn Premier matches between Ely City v Dereham and Diss Town v Mildenhall Town postponed.

The scenario was the same in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division with Newmarket Town’s trip to Halstead also falling victim to the weather.

Should the weather conditions ease up, it promises to be a busy few days for all three clubs.

Having all been scheduled to play yesterday, all three teams will be back in action on Saturday.

In the Premier Division, Mildenhall Town will entertain Thetford Town, while Ely City will travel to Haverhill Rovers. Game of the weekend in the First Division is at the Town Ground where Newmarket Town will take on Cambridge University Press.
