READY TO OFFICIATE: Students from Ely College who have passed the FA's referees' course

Twenty students from a college in Ely have successfully completed the Football Association’s
referees course.

Pupils from Ely College graduated from the course, which was run by Cambridgeshire FA, earlier this month.

Throughout the course, which the students has attended since October,
they learnt the laws of
the game along with
receiving a talk from
Premier League referee Jon Moss. The students will now be allocated games to referee in the Cambridge and District Mini League and the Cambridge and District Colts League.

“I am delighted with the way the students have participated and progressed through the course,” said referee development manager Alan Young. “We normally find with courses delivered in schools the conversion rate from attending the course to actually refereeing in the community is quite low.

“The students at Ely College have shown they want to referee and the leagues have already started appointing them to games which is fantastic.”
