With two weeks to go until the Ryman League Division One North season gets under way, joint Soham Town Rangers managers Robbie Nightingale and David Theobald have bolstered their squad by adding two players.

First to arrive at Julius Martin Lane is a familiar face in the form of Ryan Horne, who made three loan appearances for the Greens last year.

The midfielder was released by Cambridge United in the summer and recently spent time on trial with AFC Sudbury, but he has now agreed a deal at Soham.

Joining Horne at the Cambridgeshire club is striker Shaun Avis.

The frontman found the net over 30 times for West Wratting in the Kershaw League last term, and he has also scored three goals for Soham during pre-season.

Avis’ previous clubs include Saffron Walden, Newmarket Town, Mildenhall Town and Haverhill Borough.
