Newmarket Town have today learned of the work they will need to do for the Ridgeons Stadium to be eligible for promotion to the Ryman League.

The FA and the Ryman League visited the club earlier today to inspect the ground and determine whether it meets the standard for Step Four of the non-league pyramid.

The Jockeys are currently in second place in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division (Step Five) and trail leaders Mildenhall Town by eight points.

The inspection found that the club will need to make several improvements to the ground, which includes the installation of outside toilets and a new turnstile.

Speaking on behalf of the club, secretary Graham Edwards said ‘nothing major’ would need to be done and he felt confident the improvements will be completed ready in time for the 2017/18 season.
