CRICKET ROUND-UP: Mildenhall win top-of-the-table clash while Bury and Sudbury draw

The Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League derby between Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury at the Victory Ground ended in a draw on Saturday, while Mildenhall won their top-of-the-table clash at Wivenhoe and Old Buckenham took the derby spoils at relegation-threatened Diss.

Bury, batting first, were all out for 213, with Sudbury reaching 200-8 in reply.

Burwell went down by three wickets at Frinton-on-Sea. Burwell were all out for 250, Frinton replying with 253-7.

Woolpit lost at home to Vauxhall Mallards. Woolpit were dismissed for 122, but Mallards struggled in reply, losing six wickets in reaching 126.

In the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties League top-of-the-table clash, Division One leaders Mildenhall had a convincing victory at second-placed Coggeshall. The hosts finished on 236-9, with Mildenhall losing just three wickets in reaching 240.

Haverhill, Hadleigh and Halstead, battling against relegation, all went down to defeat. Hadleigh posted an impressive 267-8 at Braintree, but the hosts reached 268-9 to win by one wicket.

Halstead were well beaten at Copford. Halstead’s total of 215-8 was easily reached, Copford making 218-5 to win by five wickets. In reply to Mistley’s 236-4, Haverhill made just 152 to lose at home by 84 runs.

In the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Premier Division, relegation-threatened Diss remain in the bottom two after losing at home to local rivals Old Buckenham.

Diss were dismissed for 147, Old Bucks reached 148 for the loss of seven wickets.

Division Six: West Bergholt 118 lost to Stowmarket 176-7 by 58 runs, West Mersea 251-9 beat Long Melford II 161 by 90 runs.

Division Seven: East Bergholt II 231-6 beat Mildenhall IV 151-9 by 80 runs, Halstead III 118 lost to Sudbury III 122-1 by nine wickets, Stowupland 400-2 beat Ipswich III 135 by 265 runs, Tendring 216-7 beat Woolpit III 212-6 by three wickets, Worlingworth beat Brantham by concession.
