THE British Riding Club's eastern region Show Jumping Championship was held at Fordham last weekend.
More than 20 teams representing the region's amateur elite riders competed – the prize being a place at the National Finals at Lincolnshire Showground in September.

It was won by Worlington Riding Club, which was captained by David Smith riding Private Eye and included Russell Millar on Tancos, Claire Chapman riding Rock Culture and Hazel Simmons riding Billy Whizz.

Hazel, who also organises the Worlington junior riding teams, said: "I am so thrilled and just a bit surprised.

"I think we were probably the oldest riders competing – our average rider age must be about 50 – so this is a fantastic victory."

Worlington junior show jumpers will be hoping to join the senior team at the finals by winning their regional championship, which is being held in July.

Worlington Riding Club holds regular open and members-only events (dressage and show jumping) at its showground in Fordham. New members are always welcome.
