MILDENHALL Fen Tigers' disastrous season hit a new low on Sunday when they slumped to a 35-56 home defeat at the hands of the Glasgow Tigers.
After a shared heat in the first, the visitors took a fortunate 5-1 maximum after Mark Baseby and Matt Wright both suffered bike problems.

Another shared heat and a 5-1 to the visitors established an early eight-point lead, but a 5-1 from Michal Rajkowski and Chris Schramm, together with a fine ride by Jan Graversen in heat seven, pulled the West Row team back into the meeting.

With the Tigers trailing by three points at the interval, it looked as though a last heat decider was on the cards.

But Mildenhall's riders choked after the break as their Scottish rivals put together four 5-1 maximums to seal the win.

Simon Barton, Fen Tigers promoter, said: "We were simply not good enough. Up until the interval, I thought we were going to win but then we just hit the self-destruct button."

Team boss Laurence Rogers added: "We were just not at the races and Glasgow found their gaiting ability. It's hard to know what to do from here."

Scores - Fen Tigers: C Schramm 9, M Rajkowski 11, A Bargh 2, J Graversen 11, M Baseby 1, M Wright 1.

Glasgow: C Stonehewer 9, L Dicken 5, A Anderson 10, T Leverington 8, R Ksiezak 13, M Davey 3, J Grajczonek 8.
