SOHAM bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle as they were beaten by Needham Market in a repeat of last seasons Ridgeons Premier Division title decider.
Charles Libam, who returned to the side having completed a four match suspension, was off target with two early chances while at the other end Richard Butler headed narrowly over.

Moments later, Smith made a good save from Darren Jimson but could
only palm the ball into the path of Paul Jones, who fired over from six yards.

The hosts were reduced to ten men in the 57th minute when Martin Bromwich harshly received his second yellow card of the game for a deliberate handball.

Needham started to make the most of their man advantage and went in front with 20 minutes remaining when Danny Thrower fired past Jordan.

The hosts thought they had a strong claim for a penalty minutes later when Turner's goal bound shot was blocked by a defenders' hand, but the referee allowed play to continue.

Needham made sure of their place in the next round when Jon Sparks ran onto a deep pass from Smy before placing the ball wide of Jordan and inside the far post.

The visitors were also reduced to 10 men when Mark Bailey received his second yellow card of the match for kicking the ball away.
