BURWELL driver Oliver Jarvis picked up the points which took A1 Team Great Britain into fourth place when he drove to two podium places in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in Mexico City on Sunday.
Jarvis put in a superb performance to achieve second place in both the sprint and feature races and also collected a bonus point for fastest lap.

The first start of the sprint event was aborted after a closely-packed grid had to brake late when pole-sitters South Africa slowed around the final corner, causing a multi-car accident.

Jarvis's car sustained a damaged front wing but, when the race re-started 24 minutes later, he quickly moved up from fifth to third heading into the first corner.

When the South African car picked up a puncture, Jarvis was able to move into second place, the position in which he crossed the line.

Another good start from fourth on the grid in the feature race saw the GBR car head into the first corner in a three-way battle with Switzerland and Canada, eventually slotting into third position.

In a race full of drama, he held on to his position until his first compulsory pitstop on lap nine.

As he was entering the pit lane, the New Zealand car hit Jarvis's vehicle from behind but there was no damage and, emerging fourth after the pitstop, he quickly carried out a skilful overtaking manoeuvre on Canada's Robbie Wickens and retook third position.

A stop-and-go penalty for Switzerland moved him up another place and he finished the feature in second place, also achieving the fastest lap.

This was Jarvis's last race this season with A1 Team GBR as he now moves on to fulfil his Audi DTM duties which start with his debut at Hockenheim on April 13.
