MILDENHALL Town romped to an 8-2 win on the first day of the new season, which also saw Newmarket Town pick up three points.
The Recreation Way side, who enjoyed a good pre-season, brushed aside newcomers Whitton United in their Ridgeons Premier League opener.

Striker Robbie Harris continued his excellent pre-season form with a hat-trick, while winger Stephen Spriggs helped himself to a brace.

There were also goals for John Sands, Owen Paynter and Chris Bacon as the home side ran riot against their Norfolk rivals.

Elsewhere, Ely City went down 2-0 at Lowestoft Town on their return to the elite division, with home striker Gary McGee getting both goals.

In Division One, Newmarket Town got their campaign off to the best of starts with a 2-0 win at home to Diss Town.

Beck and Goddard were on target for the Town Ground side, who will be looking for a swift return to the Premier League following their relegation.
