WOOD Ditton water-skier Lucy Gale competed in the world famous Diamond Race in Belgium – one of the toughest races in the world on Sunday, representing Great Britain in the women's Formula 2 class.
The 18-year-old started back on the second grid and an exciting first leg saw several skiers fall.

Gale's own boat, specifically designed for rough water racing, enabled her to skip through the heavy chop and she was able to pass some slower boats before finishing fourth in the 35-minute race.

Competing in her third consecutive Diamond Race, Gale was also the first of the three Great British women home.

This week, she is on International duty again at Ramsgate, competing in the week-long bi-annual European Championships.
