TUCKER GARDNER PREMIER LEAGUE Division One, Granta 133-7 Burwell 136 1: BURWELL extended their winning run with a comprehensive victory over Granta at Clare College.
Having won the toss Burwell elected to bowl first in an attempt to restrict the opposition on a wicket which looked to be good for batting.

Initially this proved the case as the opening pair started slowly, but looked in no danger as they shred a 48 run partnership. Once again it was the introduction of Burwell's two spinners, Adam Huckle and Grant Flower, that turned the game decisively in favour of the visitors.

Huckle bowled unchanged to record figures of 2-36 from his 16 overs, while Flower hurried through his 16 overs taking 5-32 as Granta's batters had no answer to the high quality bowling on show, backed up by some dynamic fielding.

Granta inched their way to a below par looking 133-7 from their 48 overs, a total Burwell were delighted to restrict their opponents to.

Burwell's innings got off to the worst possible start as James Craig departed for nought in the first over, but this was to prove the only blemish on the scorecard as Paul Redfarn 71* and Fraser Crawford 55* batted in an assured manner as Burwell strolled to victory with 17 overs and a ball to spare.

Both batsmen showed an impressive range of strokes, with Redfarn playing some exquisite cover drives and Crawford proving adept at using the pace on the ball to angle it behind square.

Burwell host table-topping Godmanchester this Saturday as they look to further narrow the gap at the top, victory would ensure that the home side have a big say in the destination of the title.
