Eighteen-year-old Abigail Morley arrived home from work to find her mother Tina, 39, with a blue cord tied around her neck and attached to the stair banisters at their home in Campion Close, Soham.

In a statement read out to the inquest at Ely Magistrates' Court yesterday, Miss Morley, who now lives in Prickwillow, said she attempted to resuscitate her mother before calling the emergency services.

The inquest heard that Miss Morley had last seen her mother, who suffered with depression, on February 8.

She said she had given her mother a kiss before leaving for work and that she seemed normal.

The inquest heard that when Miss Morley arrived home from work at 3.45pm, she found the front door unlocked and the day's post on the floor.

In the living room, the television was on and she saw her mother on the floor as if she was kneeling.

In the statement, Miss Morley said: "I didn't think it was real at first but I started shouting."

The inquest heard that a week before the incident Mrs Morley had texted her daughter, saying "You know I really love you".

A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death was hanging.
Toxicology tests also revealed traces of an anti-depressive drug, which Mrs Morley had been using to treat her condition.

A statement from her GP, Dr Vinitha Mathew, said Mrs Morley was last treated on January 21.

William Morris, coroner for north and east Cambridgeshire, ruled that Mrs Morley took her own life.
