NOT a bunch to be put off by blowy conditions, Isleham and Soham Windmills playgroups held a family sports day on Sunday.
The event, which took place at the Cherry Tree Pub in Soham, included a football match between Isleham and Soham dads.

Mel Jones, from the Isleham Under-Fives Association, said: "The idea behind the day was not only to help support and promote the importance of sport but to have a great day out doing activities all the family enjoy."

There was a mini-sports day with running, egg and spoon and mini- wheelbarrow races.

A barbecue, refreshments, face painting, spot the ball, stalls and competitions were also on offer to visitors.

Meanwhile, beer lovers descended upon Soham recreation ground to celebrate the annual beer festival – the fourth to be held in the town.

Organised by the Staploe Rotary Club, the event raised £800 for local charities and organisations.

An auction held in the evening at the Walter Gidney Pavilion, chaired by local auctioneer David Palmer, raised £2,000 for Soham Windmill Under-Fives Playgroup.
