Bishop of Ely to retire

THE Bishop of Ely, the Rt Rev Dr Anthony Russell, has announced his retirement.
He is one of the Church of England's longest serving bishops and was installed as the 68th Bishop of Ely in 2000.

He will continue in office until January next year and will formally retire on February 28.

A new bishop should be named later this year and will start in 2010.
