HERBERT Miller, who was known as Jack and formerly of Studlands Park, Newmarket, died at The Grange nursing home, Littleport, on April 18 after a long illness. He was 86.
Born in Brockford, near Stowmarket, he came to Newmarket and worked as a maintenance man at Egerton Stud for 33 years.

During the Second World War, he served with the Suffolk Regiment in Burma but was discharged.

Keen on watching all sports o
n television, he played darts for several teams in the Newmarket area.

He had also been a season ticket holder at Ipswich Town for many years and, when he was younger, played football for Wetheringsett, near Stowmarket.

Mr Miller is survived by his wife Kathleen, and leaves a daughter Diana, three grandchildren, Wendy, Trevor and Paul, and three great-grandchildren, Rhapsody, Harrison and Amy.

His funeral was held at West Suffolk Crematorium on April 25. The service was conducted by the Rev Graham Locking.

Other mourners were: Roger and Pat Jenkins, Lady Angela Oswald (Sir Michael Oswald, Katherine and William), Jan and Bill Cornish, Anita Coleman (Arthur Coleman), Marie Coleman (Vincent Coleman), Dennis and Beryl Pearce, Daphne Baldwin, Ed and Edna Lane (Martin Lane), Derek Boreham, Val Butters, Alan Donovan (Christine and Exning Royal British Legion), Ray and Louie Mingay, Sam and Paul Jaggard, Steph and Glen Taylor, Katie Willmot, Ron Farr, Jim and Hazel Farr, Rose Bailey, Pat Paxton (Owen Reeve), Louise Manning (Ant and Pauline Pooley), Val Manning (Ian Manning), Shirley and Ivor Rolfe, Sue and Phil Prigg, Mr and Mrs John Sage and Arthur and Sheila Badcock (Phillip Badcock, Chris, Irene and Jason Keeley, Newmarket branch Ipswich Town FC Supporters Club).
