FRANK Ronald Coutts, of Queensway, Exning, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, on May 7 after a long illness. He was 81.
Born in Witchford, he was educated in Newmarket and served with the Commandos during the Second World War.
After the war, he drove a taxi and lorry before taking up his main employment for several years as chauffeur and handyman for Captain Johnso
n, and later his son.
For the last 11 years he had run the Royal British Legion branch in Exning with his partner Anne. His hobbies included gardening and driving and he was a keen supporter of raising money for the Poppy Appeal.
Mr Coutts leaves his partner Anne, son, David, grandchildren, Karl and Lee, and great-granddaughter, Abigail.
His funeral took place at St Martin's Church, Exninng, on May 19 and the Rev Joyce Williams conducted the service. Sheila Jeffery was the standard bearer.
