ENA Jean Searles, of George Lambton Avenue, Newmarket, died at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, on May 6 after a short illness. She was 79.
Born in Newmarket, she had been a hairdresser by trade and had worked at Green's in the town. She had enjoyed dancing in her younger days.

Mrs Searles is survived by her husband, Frank, and leaves four grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, Caroline and Er
ina Brosnan, along with two brothers, Harry and James Morris, and son-in-law, Maurice. Her daughter, Moira, died four years ago.

Mrs Searles' funeral took place at West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, on May 16 and the Rev Graham Locking officiated.

Family and other mourners were: Frank Searles (widower), Jack Searles, Ann Searles, James Morris, Wendy C Morris, Harry Morris, Olga Morris, Caroline Brosnan (rep Brosnan family), Nora Brosnan, Andrew Morris, Tracey Calver, Chris Morris, Hazel Whiten, Alma Saunders, Maurice Morris, Stephen Morris, Alan Mann, Marie Kendrick, Val Gallagher (William Gallagher and Janet Williams), Peter Kendrick, Mr and Mrs S Brown, Norman Flatt, Marie Flatt, Louise Flatt, Trish Flatt, Jody Vincent, Jim McArdle, Dorrie McArdle, Frank Brophy, Nina Curtis, Maureen Fussey (Mr and Mrs W Davis USA), Anthony Wells, Eileen Rees, Mr and Mrs G Carroll, Shirley Wiseman (David Hibble), Hilda Whittaker (Bill Whittaker), Jim Snell (Janice Snell), David Bidwell, Myra and Derek Morris, Margaret Jessup and Saadia Larham (Sage), Diane Vincent (John Vincent), Gill and Harry Hitchcock and John and Sue Waugh.
