THE funeral of Elizabeth Cross took place at St Peter's Church, Fordham, on February 17.
Mrs Cross, who was known as Lizzie, died at Lakenheath Village Home on February 4. She was 96.
Born in Isleham, she lived in Church Street, Fordham, for more than 70 years and for the last six had been cared for at Lakenheath.
Married to Jack
, the couple had four children.
In her earlier years, she was an active person, doing her own gardening, growing all her own vegetables and flowers. She was also a wonderful cook.
A keen member of the WI, Over-60s and the Mothers' Union, she also liked a game of bingo on a Saturday night at Fordham Royal British Legion.
Widowed 35 years ago, she leaves two sons, John and Bill, two daughters, Jean and Eileen, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The service was taken by the Rev Kate Peacock and family mourners were: Mr J Cross, Mr and Mrs P Booker, Mr and Mrs R Turner, Mr and Mrs W Cross, Mr and Mrs S Cooke, Mr and Mrs K Money, Mr K Cross and Angela Burrows, Mrs S Slessor, Mr S Cross, Mrs N King, Miss S Allsopp, Mr J Slessor, Miss K Slessor, Miss H Money and Miss A Money.
