Albert Reeve

THE funeral of Albert Frederick Reeve, of Carter Street, Fordham, took place at St Peter's Church, Fordham, on April 8.
Mr Reeve, who was 87, died at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, on March 26 after a short illness.

Born in Soham and educated at The Shade school, he worked for more than 25 years at the Ely Sugar Beet Factory.

Later on in his career he c
arried out maintenance work at Fordham Printing Works for Eddie Mann.

He was a rear gunner in the Army during the war years and served with the Essex Regiment and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

A regular church worshipper, he also attended the day centre at Withers Place in the village every Wednesday, and each month went to the luncheon club at the congregational church.

He was keen on gardening, liked to watch television and was a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. He loved listening to brass bands and attending charity concerts.

His wife Margaret died in 1996. He leaves a daughter, Barbara, and two grandsons, Andrew and Martin.

The service was taken by the Rev Michael Banyard and associate priest Kate Peacock.
