Police are appealing for witnesses after motorists reported two people walking on the A14 in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called just before 5am by a member of the public reporting that they had seen two people walking along the westbound dual carriageway between the Higham and Kentford junctions.

More calls came in from motorists with similar reports. A lorry driver also called police to say that they may have clipped one of the pedestrians with their vehicle.

Police say the two were wearing dark clothing and one may have been wearing a baseball cap.

Police, including the police helicopter, searched the area looking for signs of a collision or an injured person with no trace.

Officers are keen to speak to the driver of the lorry or anyone who may have seen the people walking in the area or who saw a collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Suffolk Police on 101.
