Detectives are appealing for witnesses after two burglars walked into an elderly woman’s home in Mildenhall and stole her handbag.

The incident took place at 6.30pm yesterday, in Newnham Close.

The intruders got in through the front door, which was not locked, and then grabbed the victim’s handbag from the lounge where she was sitting, before running back out of the front door.

Police were called and searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects who are described as follows: two white teenagers, both of skinny build and wearing dark clothing, with one wearing a dark motorcycle helmet and the other a dark hat.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious persons in the area, or who has information about this crime, is asked to contact the Bury St Edmunds Priority Crime Team on 101 quoting reference MH/15/602, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police have reminded residents to keep their doors locked at all times, even if at home.
