Residents in West Row turned out in force on Saturday to take part in the village’s second annual bake-off competition.
Inspired by the recent airing of the Great British Bake Off on BBC One, residents including Jacqueline Taylor and Lorraine Stimson-Clark, pictured above, displayed their creative talents from the kitchen at the event staged at West Row Baptist Church.
“It was a really good turnout and people were very generous in buying the cakes when they were auctioned off,” said Evan King, pastor at the church, and one of the judges on the day.
“There were two real stand out cakes for me and they were a cake which looked like a hamburger and one which was bouquet of flowers made out of cup cakes.
“We are already looking forward to next year’s event which will be at the same time and place.”
Following a final count up of all the money raised on the day a total of £416.20 was collected. The money will now be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
