Children who show the potential to tame a dragon will be able to test their skills with the ‘real’ thing at West Stow Dragon Festival this weekend.
Epico the Dragon, a walking, smoke-breathing animatronic dragon, will be at the event with his companion Sir Aurelious Jones, the pirate knight, who will choose children from the audience.
They have to pass three tests to win a Golden Breastplate and accompany Sir Aurelious on a quest to find and tame the beast.
At the end of the show, everyone gets the chance to get close to the dragon.
Sir Aurelious Jones, also known as Michael Crouch, said: “Epico and Sir Aurelious are hugely excited to be visiting this year’s Dragon Festival after hearing such great things about the event in West Stow.”
Epico will just be one of many attractions at this year’s Dragon Festival, on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 5pm, West Stow Anglo Saxon Village, which celebrates ‘all things dragon’, from folklore to dinosaurs, across a weekend of activities for all the family.
Dragon Festival 2016, is also being supported by Lego Elves and a host of other groups including The Theatre Royal Young Associates and Wulfingas 450-500AD Anglo-Saxon re-enactment society, who will be performing their Beowulf and the Dragon show.
There will also be birds of prey displays, the West Stow Drummers, a Dragon Quest and a Lego building competitions.
