UB40 unveiled as seventh act for this year’s Newmarket Nights

Reggae-pop band UB40 have been unveiled as the seventh and final booking for this year’s Adnams Newmarket Nights.

Now in their 28th season, the concerts are renowned nationwide and draw total audiences of over 100,000 people every year to The July Course in Newmarket.

The band – Ali Campbell, Astro Wilson and Mickey Virtue – join the artists from Here And Now and five other fantastic singers and bands on the 2014 bill, including Tom Jones and Dizzee Rascal.

The Friday evening concerts run from June 20 to August 15 – with UB40 playing on July 25.

UB40, who were originally formed in 1978 and are one of the most commercially successful bands of all time with record sales of over 70 million, are currently playing to audiences across the world, including in South Africa, Scandinavia, the Middle East and the Far East.

Tickets for the summer concert at Newmarket Racecourses have just gone on sale and are bound to in demand from the band’s many followers. They cost from £23 for adults and from £12 for children.

Amy Starkey, Regional Director East of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “Some of the most famous artists and bands of all time have played at Adnams Newmarket Nights. We are delighted to be announcing UB40 as the seventh and final booking for the 28th season. We’re expecting plenty of interest in tickets, so all racing and music fans are urged to book their places as soon as they can.”

Tickets for the UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue concert on The July Course are on sale at Newmarket Racecourses, online at www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk or by telephone on 0844 579 3010: £35 (Premier Enclosure), £30 (Grandstand & Paddock) and £23 (Family Enclosure). Tickets for children aged 5-17 are priced for the three enclosures at £18, £17 and £12 respectively. Children’s tickets are limited and must be purchased in conjunction with adult tickets. Once the reduced price child ticket allocation has been reached, adult prices apply. All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. There are no reserved seats. Parking is free.
