Two men have been arrested and cannabis has been seized after police stopped a car in Bill Rickaby Drive in Newmarket.

At around 6.30pm on Tuesday July 14, a police officer on patrol noticed a vehicle and stopped it. On approaching the car the officer noticed a smell of cannabis and after speaking to the occupants a bag containing the drug was handed over.

Other officers were called and a search of the vehicle was made. A bag of cannabis was found underneath the Peugeot car and another bag found discarded underneath.

Cash and mobile phones were also seized from the vehicle.

Both men – a 32-year-old from Norwich and a 22-year-old from Newmarket - were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and were taken into custody at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre. Both have now been bailed to return to police on September 9, pending further enquiries.
