Top jockey to present awards

Three times champion jockey Ryan Moore is to present the trophies at next year’s Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards in London.

The Classic winning jockey will take to the stage alongside presenter Clare Balding for to hand out the awards at the event which will take place at the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel in Knightsbridge on Monday, February 23.

In presenting the awards the 31 year old becomes the latest leading weighing room figure to perform the honour, with 19-times National Hunt champion jockey Tony McCoy carrying out the role this year, and three-times Flat champion jockey Richard Hughes the year before.

“I’m delighted to be asked to be the guest presenter for the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards,” said Moore.

“Hard-working, committed staff look after the racehorses in their care to exceptionally high standards and these awards are an opportunity to show appreciation and recognition for all the work that goes on behind the scenes.

“I’m lucky enough to have worked with some of the very best and their dedication and commitment never fails to amaze me, I’m just glad to be able to give something back in a very small way.”

On the night winners will be announced in the categories of Leadership, Rider Groom, Stud Staff, Dedication to Racing, Administration Staff and the David Nicholson Newcomer Award.

For the first four categories the winner will receive £5,000 and both runners-up £2,000.

There will be just one prize of £5,000 to the winner of the Administration Staff award, while £2,000 will be given to the David Nicholson Newcomer Award winner and £1,000 to both runners-up.

The overall Employee of the Year, who will be the winner of either the Leadership, Rider Groom, Stud Staff, Dedication to Racing categories will win £15,000.

Money won by winners and runner-up will also be matched and awarded to their separate yards.

Nominations for the awards close on December 12.
