Three England fans who are literally walking to the World Cup, have set off on their 1,966 kilometre pilgrimage to see England play in the greatest show on earth.
With 90 days to go until the World Cup begins, 27-year-old Adam – a former Newmarket Upper School student who also played for Newmarket Town Football Club – together with two friends David Bewick (31) and Pete Johnston (30) have set off to walk through Argentina, Uruguay and finally in to Brazil for the start of the World Cup on June 12.
The three England fans started their epic trek on Tuesday, March 4, from Mendoza with the walk due to end at the Estádio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, one of the 12 World Cup stadiums in Brazil.
Backed by sporting stars including Adam’s hero former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer, they are trying to raise £20,000 for the J de V Arts Care Trust to enablethe charity to build a water well in Bahia, north east Brazil, which is suffering the worst drought in over 50 years.
