A man from kentford has been handed a suspended prison sentence after being found with three kilograms of illegal drugs.
On August 6, last year, police attempted to stop a silver Mercedes following suspicions the driver was banned.
Hanif Shakeri, 28, of Bury Road, Kentford, failed to stop and made off on foot along Southbrooke Close, in Cambridge.
Officers chased Shakeri and stopped him in Paget Road. He was in possession of a bag containing about two kilograms of cannabis and a search of the Mercedes revealed a further kilogram.
Shakeri was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply class B drugs.
On Monday he pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court and was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
Pc Dan Smith, of Cambridgeshire Police, said ‘illegal drug use will not be tolerated’.
