Controversial plans for what would have been the largest solar farm to date in the UK, on land near Reach, have been withdrawn.

Solar Associates had announced plans to build the 250 acre farm which could have powered up to 10,127 homes, on land north of Little Fen Drove.

But in a statement it said: “The company submitted a pre-planning application in December as an exploratory measure and has now received advice from East Cambridgeshire District Council and initial feedback from some local residents and other stakeholders. Based on this information, it has decided not to proceed with the project.”
