Four friends who met in primary school in Soham are ready to pedal to Paris, having raised thousands for East Anglian Air Ambulance.
AJ Fleet, Nathan Sherriff, Paul Skinner and Steve Avory, all 27, have held numerous fundraising events across the county for the charity air ambulance service.
And on Wednesday, the former Soham Village College pupils will begin their 300 mile epic from London, after being sponsored for £7,500.
“We have got our road jerseys with the sponsors on. We went out for a final ride last week and now we are tapered down and ready to go,” said AJ.
The foursome are set to leave Soham for the capital on Tuesday evening, where they will stay overnight before embarking on their marathon journey on Wednesday morning.
They hope to arrive in Paris by Saturday and watch the Tour de France - which has acted as a source of inspiration for them - on Sunday before catching the train home on Monday.
“I’m very much looking forward to seeing it,” said AJ. “It certainly assisted in motivating the other chaps who aren’t as interested in cycling as I am.
“We will arrive on Saturday and I imagine we will have some celebratory drinks and then see how the pros do it on Sunday.
“We are over the moon with the money we have raised. We are very grateful for everyone who sponsored us and we know it will be of use to them.”
