A befriending service based in Newmarket is calling for volunteers to help reduce loneliness and isolation amongst the elderly.
Age UK Suffolk and The Voluntary Network, are looking for volunteers to visit people in their homes for one hour per week, offering companionship, support, and a friendly face to talk to.
Full training will be provided to all volunteers. “Our service provides a lifeline to many vulnerable people in our community,” said befriending co-ordinator Amanda Larcombe. “It can make a massive difference to people and can greatly improve their sense of wellbeing. “It is their link to the outside world and something that people really look forward to. By joining forces with Age UK Suffolk we can also directly link older people into additional support, information and advice if needed to help them to maintain their independence.” For more infomation contact Amanda Larcombe on 01638 608048 or email email@example.com
