Residents of Newmarket’s New Cheveley Road are calling for speed controls after an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning left four parked cars badly damaged.
Esther Landymore, owner of one of the vehicles, said: “I was woken up by a loud bang and went out to find a scene of devastation. I believe speed is the issue here and there will be more incidents if something is not done. I will be taking it up with Cambridgeshire County Council,” she said. A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police confirmed a 26-year-old man from Newmarket has been charged with drink driving and failing to stop after an accident and will
appear before Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on June 16.
