Pupils from a primary school in Red Lodge have done something that the England football team failed to do this summer by winning a trophy in Brazil.
Youngsters from St Christopher’s Primary School in Red Lodge have returned as Robocup JuniorTeam World Champions following this year’s RoboCup Junior International Championships in Joao Pessoa.
The team of Year 6 pupils, who joined together with youngsters from Japan and Mexico to win the team event, only just missed out on making it a double victory after having to settle for second best in the Robocup Junior CoSpace Championship.
“To be runners up to an incredibly strong Chinese team having led until the last 15 seconds was a stunning finish to the CoSpace Championship,” said Andrew Severy, ICT co-ordinator.
“To go on and be crowned SuperTeam world champions exceeded even our wildest expectations.
“This level of success is a testament to the dedication and perseverance that all the girls have shown during the course of the year.”
