Newmarket Racecourses’ commitment to local schoolchildren and students has led to it being shortlisted for two national awards.
The Under Starter’s Orders Primary Schools Education Programme and the Future Champions’ Education Week were created to inspire young people about the racing and bloodstock industries in their community and to learn about the unique heritage of the sport in Newmarket.
As a result, the Racecourse Association, the trade body of Britain’s racecourses, has shortlisted Newmarket Racecourses in the All About The Horse and Racing Together Corporate Social Responsibility and Community categories of its annual Showcase Awards. “This is a great achievement and recognition of the hard work that the team has put in this year,” said Newmarket racecourses’ boss Amy Starkey. “We are thrilled with the response from the local community, including primary schools and Newmarket Academy and their pupils and students, to our two educational programmes which place the horse racing and bloodstock industries at the centre of their learning. We have received great feedback.” as a result.”
