Pupils at Newmarket’s Fairstead House School were joined by some feathered visitors in their lessons last week.

Owls, hawks and falcons joined in the lessons at a school in Newmarket on Monday.

The Raptor Foundation, which is based in Huntingdon, took along various birds of prey, including owls, hawks and falcons to the Fordham Road as part of RSPB week.

Each class listened to an assembly full of interesting details about the various species, before the pupils were able to get up close with the birds in their classrooms.

Some pupils were also able to stroke some of the birds as well as watching them fly. The RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch runs until February 13. For more information about the events, go to rspb.org.uk/schoolswatch
