A Newmarket play area fully refurbished following consultation with local school children has been officially opened. Forest Heath District Council has spent £40,000 on improvements to Hodgkins Yard in All Saints’ Road which now has new play equipment suggested by Year 6 pupils at neighbouring All Saints’ Primary School who were invited to the official unveiling on Friday.

Also attending with Forest Heath councillor Andy Drummond, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, and leisure services manager Damien Parker, was Kingsley Hodgkins, who grandfather’s building company, Hodgkins & Sons, was once based on the site.
