Students at Newmarket Academy have been celebrating success in their A level exams and equivalent qualifications.
School head, Nick Froy, said the improved results were “further testament to the continuing improvement at the academy.”
“The students have worked harder than ever to secure their places at a range of top universities and employment in the town,” he said. “We believe that this is evidence that the academy is becoming a school of which the community can be proud.”
Among the top performers were 18-year-old Bethany Bailey from Exning whose A in English, A in psychology and B in history secured her a place at Bath Spa University where she will read English Literature and Jarl Cross, 18, from Gazeley who is heading to Cardiff University to read ancient and medieval history after securing an A in history and a distinction* in vocational subjects ICT and business studies.
Eighteen-year-old Ahmed Elmnroti of Dullingham who is currently completing an internship with the Newmarket Festival committee will take a year out doing further work experience before taking up a place at Middlesex University having achieved a distinction and distinction* in business studies and ICT both vocational subjects.
