Work is due to start on Monday on a £150,000 project to install a new sewer in Newmarket High Street to protect businesses from flooding.

The 54 metre pipe will be laid at the corner of the High Street and The Avenue in the town area prone to flood which affected nearby premises.

The work by Anglian Water will take three weeks and will cause disruption as lanes in The Avenue and the High Street will be closed. A spokesman for Anglian Water said; “We hope people will bear with us as we carry out this vital investment in Newmarket’s sewer network.”
