A Newmarket supermarket has raised more than £1,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support thanks to staff who came in on their day off to help with an Easter bag packing session. Their efforts encouraged donations for the charity from customers - the highest ever received by the store through a bag packing exercise.
“We would have been over the moon if we had raised £1,000 so it exceeded what we hoped for,” said customer service assistant Marilyn Hindle who organised the fundraiser with colleague Bernie Ripa.
