A new organisation has taken over the dial-a-ride service for Soham and Ely following the closure of Ely Soham Dial-a-Ride.

Ely and Soham Association for Community Transport ESACT yesterday began running transport for people in the area.

ESACT, FACT and HACT organisations provide the service for the region ranging from Huntingdon, through Fenland district and across to Ely.

Drivers with the previous organisation have transferred to ESACT which will be taking delivery of three new mini-buses. Fenland Association for Community Transport has been operating for the past 21 years with the Huntingdon service coming on stream two years ago.

Jo Philpott, manager, said: “We intend to see a similar service to FACT and HACT and to deliver more than was previously provided. We started day one delivering people to where they wanted to go and have delivered everything that everyone has asked for.” Contact ESACT on 01353 661161.
