A 52-year-old Newmarket man has appeared in court to plead guilty to robbery at a band and travel agency in the town.

Today Joseph Walker, of St Mary’s Square, also pleaded guilty to

possession of an imitation firearm and threatening unlawful violence.

After entering the guilty pleas at Ipswich Crown Court, Walker was told by

Judge Rupert Overbury that he would continue to be remanded in custody until

Thursday when he will be sentenced.

Walker was arrested following an incident at Premier Travel in The Guineas

shopping centre on November 17 when staff reported that a robbery had taken

place.

The second charge of robbery related to an incident on the same day at Lloyds

Bank in the High Street when more than £2,000 was stolen after staff were

confronted with what appeared to be a firearm.
