Young people in Newmarket are invited to a ‘Blues and Twos’ fun day, where they will have the chance to meet members of the emergency services and learn about their work.
The event will take place at The Severals sports pavilion in Bury Road on Wednesday, August 28, between 2pm and 5pm.
Representatives from Suffolk Police, including the Newmarket Safer Neighbourhood Team, Roads Policing and Dog Section, will be joined by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, the East of England Ambulance Service, the MOD Police and, if available, the United States Air Force, to provide youngsters with an opportunity to see what they do on a daily basis and look at the equipment they use.
Also attending the event will be representatives from Forest Heath District Council, Catch 22, Anglian Leisure ‘Street Sports’ and RT Leisure.
These groups will be providing fun activities including face painting, arts and crafts and football. There will also be a bouncy slide and ride.
Sgt Mark Shipton, of Newmarket Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We hope this event will give young people the opportunity to come and meet members of the emergency services and learn more about their roles in the community.
“People that attend on the day will get to see some of the equipment we use daily and get an idea of what the job actually involves. We will also be providing advice and answering any questions.”
